Incoming: HMRC genuine email

28th June 2016

HMRC are currently in the process of emailing an employer alert headed ‘Important information for employers’. These emails are genuine and include valid links to the GOV.UK website as well as referring to Employer Bulletin 60.

However, you should still be cautious of phishing emails that appear to be genuine but are actually trying to obtain your personal information or infect your computer with a virus. Make sure the sender is verified before you open the email and bear in mind that HMRC do not send notifications or tax rebates by email. They also never ask for personal or payment details over email.
